Open house Thursday at the Jeff public library youth department

All patrons of the Jefferson public library are invited to an open house in the youth department this Thursday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 7 pm.

Children ages 0-10 can pick up a passport, complete activities to collect stamps, and be entered into a drawing for a Back to School basket. Children younger than 7 years should be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Patrons will see what’s new for the youngest patrons. “We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the new resources we have added this summer,” library director Jane Millard said.  “There are new books and lots of new hands-on activities to amaze children and help them learn in a variety of ways.”

She and the library trustees thanked the Greene County Community Foundation, the Jefferson Rotary Club and the Friends of the Library for funding support for these new items.

“This is also a great opportunity to meet the new librarians in the youth department,” Millard continued. “They work with ages infant through high school, providing programs and materials of interest to children and teens.”

Refreshments will be served.
